Laishram Veerjit, who has been accused of killing his cousin brother Laishram Chinglemba, has been remanded to judicial custody till April 21 .
He was brought from the custody of CID Crime Branch and produced before JMIC Imphal West under FIR number 58 (3) 2016 of Singjamei police station under Section 365/302 IPC and 27 Arms Act today.
According to the enquiry report submitted by CID Crime Branch to the Court, investigation of the case was conducted by Singjamei police station at the initial stage.
However, the case was transferred to CID Crime Branch by an order of DGP Manipur issued on April 1 last.
The accused was suspicious that his wife was having an 'illicit' relationship with his cousin brother Chinglemba.
As his mind was restless due to this, he wanted to teach a lesson to his cousin brother, the report mentioned.
The report further said that Veerjit had also attempted to kill Chinglemba using an iron rod and a knife in the intervening night of March 5 and 6 .
However, his attempt was foiled by the family members, the report said.
On March 29, Veerjit abducted Chinglemba in his Swift car and took him to Mongshangei area.
He closed all the windows of the car and shot Chinglemba dead inside the car using his service pistol there.
After committing the crime, Veerjit made calls to his wife and mother informing them that he had killed Chinglemba.
Later, he also made a call to Singjamei SDPO telling him that he (Veerjit) had killed his cousin brother and he wanted to surrender before the police officer.
The report further said that Veerjit has expressed his willingness to give his confessional statement before the Court.
