Earthquake toll rises to 8

Imphal, January 05 2016:
The death toll from yesterday's de-vastating earthquake rose to eight with one injured victim succumbing to injuries at RIMS last night and the number of injured persons reached 106 today.
Maximum number of injured persons is recorded in Imphal West district with 58 casualties.
Senapati, Imphal East, Tamenglong and Bishnupur districts have recorded 21, 18, 5 and 4 casualties respectively so far.
339 buildings and structures including private hou- ses, Government offices, market sheds and one bridge have been reported damaged till the time of filing of this report.
164 structures were damaged in Senapati while 60 in Tamenglong, 58 in Imphal West, 38 in Bish-nupur, 17 in Imphal East and one each in Thoubal and Ukhrul districts were also damaged.
An unofficial report received here said that one cattle died and around 70 houses were damaged at Motbung Nepali Basti Ward No 2 in yesterday's earthquake.
IFCD Minister Ngamthang Haokip and Senapati DC Jacintha Lazarus visited the village today.
A team of Indian Red Cross Society, Manipur also visited the village and adjoining areas and provided relief materials and medicines to the villagers.
