Imphal, July 03 2016:
The JAC constituted by NFSA bene-ficiaries at Seijang has clarified that they never stole rice from the home of the local FPS agent but only took back the rice bags meant for distribution to bene-ficiaries to a Government godown in presence of police in protest against attempts to reduce the quantity of rice entitled to beneficiaries under NFSA.
JAC Against Misutili-sation of Rice Allocated under NFSA, Seijang secretary Mutum Thoibisana said that they were compelled to make the clarification as FPS agent Huidrom Manaoton filed a complaint to police alleging that rice bags kept at his home have been stolen.
Meanwhile, there are reports about one Okram Muhindro and Mayanglambam Doya collecting signatures of unsuspecting NFSA beneficiaries.
One SI posted at Lamlai police station also asked the JAC through telephone to take back the rice bags.
However, the JAC would never take rice until the full quantity entitled to beneficiaries under NFSA is assured, Thoibisana said.
She further maintained that the JAC would carry out different forms of protest until the beneficiaries are given their due share of NFSA rice.
