All 60 MLAs to be warriors of War on Drugs

The State Assembly has taken an unanimous resolution to designate all 60 members of the House as warriors of the War on Drugs campaign, today.
Moving the resolution, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that the Government launched the War on Drugs campaign with a sole objective to eradicate drug menace 'which has been crippling the State for decades' .
The State being enroute to Golden Triangle and having a lengthy stretch of porous and poorly maintained international border with Myanmar faces many drug related problems, the Chief Minister continued and maintained that the State has been affected by several drug related activities such as smuggling of contraband items, consumption of drugs among youth in large scale, loss of lives, establishing drug manufacturing units etc.

The Chief Minister went on to state that escalation of poppy plantation in hill regions of the State is a serious problem in contemporary Manipur.
Continuing that the Government has been investing a huge amount of resources and manpower in combating drug issue, N Biren maintained that every aspect of the society including the future of younger generation will deteriorate to an irreparable level if drug menace is not rooted out.
He observed that a collective effort of judiciary, executive, legislators, civil stakeholders and the public is needed to end the drug menace.
After discussion, Members of the House approved the resolution raised by the Chief Minister unanimously.
