President condoles loss of lives in landslides

New Delhi, August 02 2015:
President Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday condoled the loss of lives in the landslides triggered by heavy rains in Chandel district of Manipur.
In his message to Dr Syed Ahmed, Governor, Manipur, President Mukherjee said:"I am sad to learn about the landslides triggered by heavy rains in Chandel district of Manipur, which has resulted in the loss of a number of lives and injuries as well as damage to property.
"I understand some people are missing and thousands have been rendered homeless.
Rescue as well as relief operations are currently underway," he added.
President Mukherjee called upon the State Government and other authorities to provide all possible aid to the bereaved families, who have lost their near and dear ones as well as medical assistance to the injured and shelter to homeless.
"Please convey my heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased.
I wish speedy recovery to the injured persons," he said.

Sonia, Rahul ask State Govt to ensure speedy relief to kin of landslide victims : Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi expressed deep sorrow at the loss of lives in the landslide in Manipur and asked the State Government to ensure speedy relief and adequate compensation.
Concerned over the havoc caused to life and property in Manipur, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal, the Congress leaders asked the partymen and women to extend every possible help to the affected people.
