AMUCO to observe Nupi Lal Day in Tripura, Assam

All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) in collaboration with various other organisations will observe Nupi Lal Day in Tripura and Assam.
In a release, AMUCO publicity secretary Laishram Krishnachandra Khuman informed that AMUCO and Manipuri Literary and Cultural Forum (MLCF), Tripura will jointly observe the 83rd Nupi Lal Day at Bamutiya Berimura, Agartala, Tripura on December 12, in collaboration with various organisations from Manipur and Tripura.
The Organisation will also observe the Day at Agartala and at Hojai in Assam in collaboration with local organisations with an aim to make the people aware on courage and bravery of Manipuri women outside the state, it added.
AMUCO mentioned that in connection with the observance, foundation stone laying ceremony will be held for a Nupi Lal Statue to be erected at Nalgaria Radha Mandav Devatabari Complex, Ranir Bazar, Agartala.
The Organisation has decided to focus on installing statues of Manipuri martyrs at places outside the state to inspire and remind Manipuris settling outside about the courage and sacrifices of their ancestors, it said.
AMUCO also informed that a team comprising its president Pheiroijam Nando Luwang, advisor Yangsosong Koireng, vice president MM Thambou and assistant secretary Ningthoujam Loken will leave Imphal on December 12 for taking part in the observance at Agartala.
The team will also pay visit and interact with Meitei Pangal and Koireng communities residing in Tripura.
On the other hand, Nupi Lal Day observance to be organised by United Manipuri Association, Assam Handloom Committee, Hojai district and Manipuri Women Association (Manipuri Nupi Lup) at Manipuri Sahitya Parishad office, Hojai on December 9 will be attended by a six-member AMUCO team led by its vice president Koijam Helen Meitei and secretary general Dr Norendro Thokchom, it conveyed.
AMUCO also said that as part of the 83rd Nupi Lal Day observance at Bamutiya Berimura annual literature journal 'Takhellei Nachom' published by MLCF, Tripura will be released.
As part of the observance, MLCF, Tripura will also honour three women from Tripura, namely, Nahakpam Bheigyabati, Nongshatabam Nanathoi and Phijaba Chandrakala for their work in Meetei culture and social service.
A cultural show will also be performed by troupes from Manipur and Tripura including Southern Manipur Art & Culture Promotion Centre, Kakching Khunyai Leikai and cultural artistes of Tripura, it added.
