All Manipur Mid-day Meal Workers' Union to hold protest on Jul 11

Imphal, July 02 2021:
Peeved over Government's lack of concern, mid-day meal workers are set to hold a protest demonstration on July 11 .
The protest demonstration is to be held in solidarity with the nationwide protest called by the Mid Day' Meal Workers' Federation of India, said the All Manipur Midday Meal Workers' Union in a press statement.
The protest demonstration is to be held on demand of 7 points relating to the welfare of mid-day meal workers, the release said.
The demands as mentioned in the release are:
1) Vaccination of all mid-day meal workers on priority basis.
2) Provision for free 10 kg of food grains per month to the mid-day meal workers.
3) To stop the transfer of cost of cooking (mid-day meal scheme) to children through direct benefit transfer.
4) A minimum wage of Rs 24,000 to all mid-day meal workers for twelve months and no retrenchment till pension is provided.
5) To bring all children under the purview of Midday Meal Scheme and provision for more nutritious meals.
6) No privatization of Mid-day Meal Scheme.
7) To repeal four "anti labour codes" and all "three anti-farmers laws" .
