It was also conveyed to the construction agency to halt all works until a solution is reached with the authority concerned.
However, the works are still being carried out despite the objections raised by the people.
Stating that neither the government nor PDA has given any response on the matter till date, he accused authorities concerned of being indifferent towards the aspiration of the people to preserve the playground.
As such, a shutdown will be imposed from Punshikhul to Laimanai on November 2.During the shutdown, movement of essential services, medical, religious activities and media will be relaxed, he said, while inforriiing that the duration of the shutdown has been minimised owing to the upcoming Ningol Chakkouba festivities.
Shamu observed that construction of the housing complex at the playground will be detrimental to many sportspersons.
He then questioned if the state would disintegrate if the site for the housing complex is shifted elsewhere, while cautioning of launching intense agitations from Novembers, if the government continues to ignore the issue.
