Imphal, December 23 2021:
Rongmei Naga Youth Organisation, Manipur (RNYOM) has urged chief minister N Biren to release the land compensation to the rightful owners whose lands have been acquired by the Northeast Frontier Railway for construction of Tunnel No 12 at Khongsang village at the earliest.
In an open letter to CM, RNYOM president Namgakdai Nichol Gonmei stated that NF Railway has deposited the full amount of the land compensation for construction of Tunnel No 12 at Khongsang village since November 23, 2020 to the DC Tamenglong's Account No 1712010147552 of United Bank of India (UBI), Tamenglong Bazaar.
However, the said compensation has not been released by the DC concerned giving the excuse that the state government has not issued any order in this regard.
Hence, the land owners after several peaceful approaches to the district authority of Tamenglong and state government for the early release of the compensation which remained unheard have put up the matter to the RNYOM for supporting their genuine demand, it claimed.
RNYOM continued that it is also learnt that Khongsang Village Authority (owner of the said land) having no other option has been compelled to organise protest/bandh/boycott of National Railway Project Works in their jurisdiction which has hampered the progress of the work and may further cause unwanted incident.
Therefore, the Organisation in the interest of the rightful land owners and the concerned citizens do hereby, request the CM to look into the matter with top priority and resolve the issue at once for smooth functioning, early completion and quality work of the project.
Failing to solve the matter at the earliest may invite public unrest for whichlhe state government will be held responsible for any untoward incident, it cautioned.
