Manipur Cycling Association (MCA) has distanced itself from the National Level BMX Free Style Championship 2022 to be held at Hapta Kangjeibung from November 26 to 28 and Mountain Bike Down Hill Championship 2022 at Cheiraoching, Thangmeiband on November 25-26 with entry fee of Rs 3500, terming the events as unauthorised.
In a release issued Tuesday, MCA secretary K Sanajaoba Singh informed that an emergency meeting was held in this regard on November 20 which decided that since the events are being organised by individual named Umananda Irom other than MCA, which is the con trolling body of the all cycling events in Manipur since its inception in 1972, and as the organisers of the said games are not related with the Association, the event itself is an unauthorised one.
Hence, cyclists/riders and officials of the state are advised not to take part in the said games and other selection trials etc., of any kind not organised by MCA, so that they may not face any grave consequences in future.
Any untoward incidents caused to the cyclists/riders in the said games will not be the responsibility of MCA, it added.
