State level exhibition commences

A four-day state level Science, Mathematics and Environment exhibition for children organised by Department of Education (S), Science Unit on the theme 'Technology and toys' commenced from Friday at Johnstone Higher Secondary School, here.
Speaking as chief guest of the inaugural programme, Education (S/Hills) additional director Seiminthang Lenthang lauded the young students for taking part in the exhibition and exhorted them to create models in innovative ways in the years to come also.
Despite creating little models, students should have high thinking, Seiminthang stressed, while adding that they should think how to help people with their models and also the ways to make it commercial.
The history and biography of famous people need to be relooked, as they all began small but achieved great success becoming millionaires in the end, he added.
The additional director continued that there is nothing impossible in today's world and as such student should dream big to grab the countless opportunities in the world and help one another.
Delivering the presidential address, Education (S) senior administrative officer Soraisam David said that people cannot live without technology and it has become a part and parcel of our lives.
Noting that students are showcasing wonderful models in the exhibition, David continued that participating in such event itself is a huge success for the students.
It has ignited new ideas and gave the opportunity to create new models, he added.
The inaugural function was also attended by Education (S/Valley) additional director Bisheshwar Khumukcham as guest of honour.
In all, 66 student exhibitors from 17 zones of the education department are showing their models in the exhibition.
The winners of the exhibition will represent Manipur at the national level exhibition.
Meanwhile, a science seminar attended by Manipur University former vice chancellor G Amuba as president and US Fulbright Nehru Fellow University of Maryland Park, USA & Manipur University prof A Surjalal as guest talker was also held as a part of the programme.
