People of Nungba area led by Women Society on Tuesday inspected CHC Nungba and expressed utter dismay over shortage of doctors and staff at the healthcare centre.
The inspection team led by Rongmei Naga Luh Phwam Manipur (RNLPM) vice president G Akhuan also decried frequent transfers of doctors from the CHC.
Informing that two specialist doctors had been transferred from Nungba CHC despite facing acute shortage of doctors and staff, she said that located midway between Imphal and Jiribam along the NH-37 and being a strategic location, Nungba CHC needs to have surplus doctors and staff to respond to any medical emergencies.
G Akhuan recalled that people of Nungba area had urged CMO Noney not to transfer the two specialist doctors from CHC Nungba, yet a specialist was transferred ignoring their fervent appeal.
On Monday, another order from Directorate of Health and Services directed Dr Angkong Rongmei, who is posted at CHC Nungba and others to report to Tamenglong District Headquarters by February 1 or face necessary action for defying the government, she informed.
While appealing to the government for posting more specialists doctors, X-Ray and Ultrasound technicians as soon as possible, she cautioned of calling NH-37 total shutdown if Dr Angkong Rongmei is transferred from CHC Nungba.
