Training on post-harvest management held

College of Agriculture, CAU organised an 'Awareness programme on Cultivation and Post Harvest Man-agement of Spices with Reference to Black pepper and King Chilli' under the 'Promotion of Spices in North East under North East Hill Component' at Maibam Kabui Village in Bishnupur district on Friday.Organised under the supervision of College of Agriculture, CAU Dean Prof Indira Sarangthem, the programme was sponsored by ICAR-Indian Institute of Spices Research, Kozhikode, Kerala.In her speech, NEH Promotion of Spices in North East nodal officer As-sistant Prof Dr PS Mariam explained about the benefits and advantages of spices including how it could help boost the immunity during the Covid-19 pandemic, and how it can increase the income of the farmers.
During the technical session of the awareness programme attended by around 30 farmers, College of Agri-culture Associate Prof and head Dr Kh Ibohal, Assistant Prof (SSAC) Dr N Sunanda, Assistant Prof (Horticulture) Dr PS Mariam Anal spoke as resource persons touching on various topics like how to plant spices, nutrient man-agement, management of pest and post-harvest management, and value addition.
