Imphal, August 21 2014:
Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has greeted the people in the North Eastern region particularly Zeliangrong people in connection with the observance of 83rd death anniversary of veteran Freedom Fighter Haipou Jadonang which falls on August 29, 2014 .
In a statement issued by its Information and Publicity Secretary A.Dangmei, ZUF informed that like every year, this historic event will be observed by the Front at its 'Dilung' (General Head quarters) GHQ with great enthusiasm.
On the occasion, ZUF will deliberate upon the need to step up action programmes befitting the aspiration of the deprived Zeliangrong people who are still colonialized by different authorities and stronger sections of the people.
The vast scope of Nagaraj Movement (1920s-1930s) should not be viewed as fulfilled unless the Zeliangrong people to which the departed patriot belonged, find the rightful place towards progress through socio-economic and political status.
Haipou Jadonang advocated the coming of Nagaraj with his famous slogan "Makam gong tu puni" meaning His people shall reign just as other people who have established kingdoms.
The spirit of the patriot shall not rest in peace until and unless his own tribe Zeliangrong finds a common status of self administration paving the way for development, the ZUF statement added.
It further said that as India is fast changing to become a super power in the global scenario and the vision -2020 is being revitalized by the Narendra Modi led Union Government, the scope for the reorganization of the Indian states by creating more states is visualized as encouraging in different regions.
Zeliangrong State demand with the status of statehood has been the long standing dream.
Rani Gaidinliu led ZPC in 1980s had shown the path to assert for a better place deserved by the long suffering people of Zeliangrong Nagas.
Zeliangrong joined Manipur, Nagaland and Assam and the Naga independence movement etc.
But none of these bodies have served the interest of Zeliangrong even though many precious lives were sacrificed.
About 13,000 sq.
Km area of the proposed Zeliangrong State with 5 lakhs about population lies naturally compact but artificial fragmentation left the indigenous people suppressed as before the departure of Britishers in 1947.This situation of subjugation and colonialism should not left to remain but the Zeliangrong people of all walks of life should now resume the struggle left behind unfulfilled by Haipou Jadonang and Rani Gaidinliu, the statement said.
It also appeal to all sections of the people in the region especially in Assam, Manipur and Nagaland to support, contribute and participate in the genuine struggle for Zeliangrong socio-political status once and for all.
The Front further appealed to light candle or any conventional fire on the occasion of Haipou Jadonang veteran freedom fighter's 83rd Death Anniversary on 29th August in every household.
The ZUF also asked all the educational institutions and other related establishments be it Govt.or Private to remain close on 29th August 2014, within Zeliangrong territory in honour of him.
