Premium petrol price crosses Rs 100

Despite decrease in crude oil prices internationally, prices of petrol and diesel have been steadily increasing in India with Manipur seeing rate of Premium petrol breach the Rs 100 mark on Friday.
On Friday, oil companies raised prices of petrol and diesel by 29 and 34 paise per litre respectively.
Consequently, diesel price reached Rs 86.57 per litre and petrol Rs 96.19 per litre with premium petrol going up by Rs 100.2 in Manipur.
The increase in fuel prices has led to many states hiking rate of petrol to Rs 100 per litre and diesel Rs 90 per litre.
It can be mentioned that on Thursday international crude oil price had gone down by one per cent.
But in case of India, oil prices have been on rise since May 4 after the announcement of election results of Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry.
With the rise in fuel prices, there is apprehension that people of the country will see steep increase in prices of essential goods, on top of facing the brunt of the pandemic.
