Music could bring emotional integration: Tourism Director

Tourism director W Ibohal has called for producing music that could bring emotional integration among the indigenous communities of the state.
He was attending as chief guest of the 30th foundation day celebration of performing cum musical institute, Sargam held at the Brahmapur Nahabam Leikai, Imphal residence of B Netachandra on Sunday.
Sargam president M Dhananjoy presided over the function while Manipur Olympic Association vice-president GA Sanatomba, Naharolgee Thoudang editor Khoirom Loyalakpa, former Sargam presidents Sagolsem Tijendra and B Netachandra were present as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Ibohal called for identifying talents among the young children and nurturing them so that they could achieve success in their respective fields of passion.
It will also help in reducing the problem of unemployment, he observed and stressed the need for appointing music teachers in all the schools while urging music institutes and organisations to submit the proposal to the government as it will not only infuse the passion of music among the students but also help in generating employment opportunities for the musicians.
The director further said that the society has been witnessing a new trend of music since the last decade and ob served that number of music that could bring emotional integration among the different indigenous communities of the state is reducing and stressed the need for producing more such music.
In his presidential speech, Dhananjoy said that as music is a big industry in other states there is a strong need to institutionalize music industry to improve the status of music and artistes.
In this spirit, Sargam has been working as a musical institute, he said and added that they are planning to get affiliation under Manipur University of Culture to become a full-fledged musical institute.
Floral tributes were also paid to the portraits of three people, who were founder president, advisor and member of Sargam, on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Wangkhei MLA Thangjam Arunkumar released an audio CD titled, 'Loubuk Maikei Panglasi' produced by Sargam under the sponsorship of Chief Ministergee Artisteshingee Tengbang (CMAT) scheme and as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav campaign to mark 75 years of Indian independence.
The MLA released the audio CD in the presence of Sargam president M Dhananjoy, art and culture commissioner Mongjam Joy and director L Kishwarjit.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Arunkumar hailed the CMAT scheme stating that it is providing various benefits to artistes of the state.
Ar tistes are playing a major role in promoting art and culture of the state.
Art and culture are important aspects of human society, he said and expressed hope that audio CD will encourage farmers and motivate the public to protect agricultural land as well as promote work culture.
The song has been composed by renowned singer and music composer Sagolsem Tijendra on the lyric of M Dhananjoy.
