Imphal, June 25 2021:
CPI Khurai Council on Friday staged a protest at Khurai against the hike on petrol prices.
As part of the agitation, the protestors carried out a rally and shouted slogans such as "Lower petrol prices", "Don't oppress the poor with high fuel prices", "Lower petrol and diesel prices", "Cut excise taxes on fuel", etc.
Speaking on the sidelines of the protest, CPI Manipur State Council secretary L Sotinkumar contended that the NDA government has enacted several anti-people laws, effectively bringing about a dictatorship.
The people must not remain silent over such acts, he said, while adding that CPI will continue to voice and stand against the oppressive actions.
He continued that the three anti-farm bills will lead to the destruction of the country, while the BJP continues to fill its pockets.
CPI Manipur State Council spokesperson Rk Amusana said that those in the seat of power have completely forgotten the sufferings of the people, while condemning the various ill-intentioned economic policies and acts of both the central and the state governments.
PM Modi is just oppressing the country by raising the fuel prices, especially when Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and other neighbouring countries are able to lower their fuel prices, he remarked.
