ATDUM demands action against police

All Tribal Disabled Union Manipur (ATDUM) has demanded the authorities concerned to take strict action against the personnel of Sekmai Police Station who were involved in assaulting nine volunteers of ATDUM while inspecting the bandh called by the Union on June 3 last.
Addressing media persons today, General Secretary of ATDUM Letminthang Haokip stated that the Union called a bandh on June 3 last for which some volunteers had gone to inspect the bandh scenario.
However, they were apprehended at Kanglatongbi and handed over to Sekmai Police Station where they were thrashed severely inside the lockup.
The ATDUM has made several complaints to the authorities concerned including Home Minister and DGP, but so far no action has been taken against the erring police personnel, he noted.
The General Secretary further said that the Union would launch stern agitations if the State Government fails to take action against the police personnel involved in assaulting the disabled persons by July 20 .
