Jiribam, September 14 2021:
All Jiribam Road Transport Drivers' Union president Mutum Tombabu has said that the petition Med by one Pukhrambam Bina Devi claiming ownership of the land at Jiribam Babupara where the union's office building is located was baseless and unfounded.
Addressing media persons on Monday, Tombabu recalled that construction of the office building of AJRTDU at Babupara started in 2019 so that the building could be utilised for welfare of drivers including providing shelter and facilitating convenient stay during medical treatment.
The union possessed all relevant documents including NOC of JMC before the construction began and with leaders of several organisations as witnesses when the construction started.
However, Pukhrambam Bina Devi emerged from nowhere with a document from court claiming that the land belongs to her and construction of the building too started by her.
Bina's sudden emergence and claiming ownership of the land without prior Information is suspicious as the union not only possesses land documents but also has list of materials used in construction of the building since 2019 while labourers engaged for construction of the building are still at the work site, Tombabu said.
According to Tombabu, the land said to be currently in dispute belongs to Un-Employment Youth Organisation having Dag No 106 but AJRTDU's building is being constructed on Dag No 214 and it has no dispute.
If there were any disputes, the court might have sent summon notice but no such intimation has been received, he said and urged higher authority to settle the matter.
The press conference was also attended by AJRTDU representatives and labourers engaged for construction of the building.
