MS refutes fee charge slur, assures probe

Reacting to charges levelled by one Social Welfare Organisation through the media that Thoubal district hospital made patient's party, who came for child delivery, to spend money unreasonably; medical superintendent of the hospital Dr Ch Memcha Devi has refuted the allegations as unfounded and' malicious.
Speaking to media persons in her office chamber on Monday.
Dr Memcha took series note of the media report on the basis of the organisation's accusation that the hospital is charging anywhere from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 from patients (child delivery cases) and staff nursing asking the patient's party to make purchases.
Such allegation is unfortunate as the hospital and staffers never indulge in any unethical practices, she clarified.
Asserting that the staffers have been trying level best to ensure the best treatment to all admitted to the hospital, Dr Memcha urged not to repeat such unfounded allegations and assured that the authority too will loak into the matter.
If staffers were found indulging in such wrongful activities, stringent actions will be taken up against them, she further assured, while urging all to inform the hospital authority if staffers ask for money and indulge in other unethical practices.
