Imphal, November 02 2021:
Hung Sidaba Lain-ingkol Trust, Keirenphabi has questioned the motive of the central and state governments over the alignment of border pillar 81 amid the unresolved Indo-Myanmar boundary row.
It also questioned the state government's stand over the issue.
In a statement, the Trust recalled that people of the state had shown their stand over the boundary, issue to the central survey team during a visit in 2018 .
Questioning the whereabouts of the high-level committee formed by the BJP government to assess the situation, the Trust demanded the state government to take up necessary steps to protect the state's land.
Holding both past and present governments responsible for the boundary issue, the Trust demanded the reason for erecting pillars after pillars by giving different names such as boundary pillars and security pillars while compromising large chunk of state's land.
The government is trying to mislead the public by not giving a clear picture regarding the issue, the Trust maintained, while adding that the people of the state will no longer trust the government if it continues such acts.
Reminding how chief minister N Biren on June 26,2018 took pledge to stand for the territory of the state, the Trust urged the CM to keep his promise and clarify over the construction of roads and border fencing along BP 80 in Govajang and Boljang areas, and BP 81 in Kwatha Khunou areas.
It also expressed suspicion if the state government had agreed to cede state's land to Myanmar or the government is remaining silent out of fear.
