MHHDC launches training on cloth knitting

Manipur Handloom & Handicraft Development Corporation (MHHDC) has started conducting training programme for cloth knitting at Apparel & Garment Making Centre, Lamboi Khongnangkhong from Friday.
Launch function of the training programme was attended by MHHDC chairman Sagolsem Achouba as chief guest, managing director Lamlee Kamei as president and general manager (administration) A Jiten as guest of honour.
According to Achouba, the corporation started training programme for cloth knitting not only to promote handloom and handicraft products of the state but also to enhance marketing as more people from outside want to purchase handloom and handicraft products of Manipur either in bulk or through online.
While claiming that products of the corporation have high demand outside the state, he said the corporation is planning to sell newest designs produced by the trainees during the upcoming Ningol Chakkouba and Diwali festivals.
Corporation managing director Lamlee Kamei said that the training programme is production oriented and not merely for getting certificate.
If found talented, the corporation would even offer job to such trainees, Lamlee said, adding that trainees will be given stipend of Rs 300 per day.
A booklet containing report of the corporation's activities in the last around one year was also released during the launch ceremony.
