Imphal, February 01 2022:
Stating that the statements made by intending candidates, who have joined National People's Party (NPP) and Congress after failing to get Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket, are hilarious; BJP Manipur Pradesh media in-charge and spokesperson Ch Chidananda has said that NPP will drown itself amid a drought on the day the poll results are declared, while Congress would have long disappeared even before the polls are conducted.
Speaking to newspersons at Thambal Shanglen of BJP here on Tuesday, Chidananda reacted to deputy CM Y Joykumar's statements of BJP trying to coax its former intending candidates, who have now joined other political parties, to come into the party again in case of winning the election, stating that NPP will likely drown itself in a drought once the votes are counted on March 10.NPP is the only party which is day-dreaming about winning the polls after gathering former BJP intending candidates who failed to get the ticket and then fielding at least 40 of them, while further claiming that around 20 of the candidates are sure to win.
He continued: "Despite 4 of its MLAs serving as ministers in the government, NPP did not take any responsibility during the last 5 years, particularly during the pandemic.
Its political gimmicks of releasing manifesto when the polls are drawing near can be discerned even by young children.
"Does NPP not remember the departure of its MLAs? Amid such a situation, NPP has collected candidates who have been expelled, suspended and denied party ticket by BJP, and is weaving a tale of patriotism and strong influence.
All these will only result in the party's demise after the polls.
However, it is the right and wish of an individual to join a political party of his/her choice, which is not an issue to BJP," he remarked.
Chidananda then commented on CLP leader O Ibobi's statements of equating those who left BJP and joined Congress as immovable property, and said that they may be immovable but they will never become MLAs.
Congress' ignorance of the status quo, even while carrying out its campaign, is a sign of the party's intention to cause chaos and disrupt peace.
People are more aware of Congress' lethality after having lived through 15 years of anguish, he contended, while adding that Congress conspired to cause such anguish again during CM N Biren's term.
"MPCC president N Lo-ken repeatedly stated that BJP will disappear after the polls.
However, Congress will be the one to disappear before the polls.
BJP's development efforts are all open to the public.
Any political party which cannot accept this fact is likely to end itself before the election.
The scams during Congress rule have not been repeated under PM Modi's leadership.
The state has not faced any prolong bandh/blockades under the BJP-led state government and the poor have more access to the different welfare benefits and facilities.
"Manipur is now living a new and peaceful life under BJP government.
No fake encounters have occurred in the last 5 years, all due to the efforts of the double engine government of PM Modi and CM N Biren.
For now, there is no intention of pre-poll alliance with any party.
Many intending candidates who failed to get the ticket are still with the party.
The protests of some intending candidates over not getting the party ticket will not affect BJP's target of winning over 40 seats," Chidananda contended.
