KPI police recover stolen vehicle, seize liquor

Imphal, December 20 2021:
A team of Kangpokpi district police recovered a DI Pick-up truck on Monday which was stolen from Assam.
According to Kangpokpi Dis trict Police Cyber and Media Cell, information was received regarding a vehicle (Yoda DI Pick-Up/AS-01-NC-4483/white) owned by one Manuel Haque (30) of Ku-kar Par, Barpeta district Assam stolen from Assam and reportedly driven towards Manipur.
Following the input, a team of Kangpokpi police station led by its OC inspector Henminthang Kipgen swung into action and after a thorough search in suspected areas in and around Kangpokpi, recovered the said vehicle around 12:30 pm from Kangpokpi ward number 1 .
The recovered vehicle will be handed over to PS concerned after completing necessary formalities, the cell said in a statement.
It also informed that a team of Kangpokpi police recovered 400 cases of Kingfisher Beer on Sunday from a truck.
Acting on specific information, frisking and checking along NH-2 under the supervision of Kangpokpi additional SP (LO) Thangkhochon Haokip was intensified by a team led by OC of Gamnom Sapermeina (GSPM) PS inspector Jangkhohao Haokip, SI Mangpithang Kilong, ASI Doukhanlian Simte and a team of NAB Manipur.
During the frisking and checking in front of the police station Tata truck (NL-01-AA-3914) was detained at 9:30 pm.
Upon checking the truck, 400 cases of Kingfisher Beer was detected.
The truck was being driven by one Ajit Teinamei (27) s/o Manglem of Tumuyon Khullen under Kangpokpi PS and was accompanied by his younger brother Lungbi Teinah.
The driver was arrested and the items along with the truck will be handed over to Gamnom Sapermeina Excise Department for further necessary legal action, it said.
