CM, AMCO, others extend Christmas greetings

Chief minister N Biren extended warm wishes to the people of Manipur on the joyous occasion of Christmas.
In his message, Biren said that Christmas is celebrated with great pomp and joy by billions of people all over the world.
"As we celebrate this Holy festival, we must emulate Jesus Christ's eternal message of love and forgiveness by opening up our hearts and extending our helping hand to everyone," he said.
Pointing out that the festival provides an 6ppor.tunity for the people of the state to forget ill-will arid misgivings, and forgive our enemies and celebrate the spirit of Christmas, he continued that the season of Christmas is the season to make friends.
While wishing the people of Manipur a very Merry Christmas, he prayed that the season of love and joy ushers in an era of peace, harmony and prosperity in this beautiful state.
In separate releases, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee, Manipur State Council Communist Party of India, United Committee Manipur and Manipur Hills Journalists' Union (MHJU) also extended Christmas greetings to people of both the hills and valley of the state following Christianity.
On the joyous occasion of Christmas, they wished for peace, prosperity, harmony, equality and unity, among the people Manipur.
They also urged to "maintain Covid-19 guidelines while celebrating the festival and beseeched everyone in Manipur, irrespective of religion, to work whole heartedly for peace so that the importance of Christmas and its essence for "peace on earth" do not go in vain.
Meanwhile, All Manipur Christian Organisation (AMCO) greeted the people of the state on the eve of Christmas, the birthday of Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ.
In a release, AMCO appealed to all right thinking citizens of Manipur, especially the fraternity of Christian brethren to commemorate Christmas in its true essence and not to take political advantage of this holy event.
It further appealed against indulging in any activities that will rob the sanctity and spirit of Christ and exhorted all parties and candidates not to conduct election campaign during the holy season of Christmas and New Year.
