Senapati, July 15 2021:
A young doctor who was on his way to join duty at COVID-19 screening point at Mao Gate succumbed to injuries while his mother died on the spot and his father referred to Imphal for treatment after they met at accident.
The i10 Grand car (MN 01S-5323) in which they were travelling was reportedly driven by the father when the incident took place in between Maram and Makhan in Senapati district.
The doctor identified as Dr Franco Heisnam (31), son of H Chhaterjit Singh of Bamon Leikai, Imphal East district recently joined the Screening Point at Mao Gate as an MO on contractual basis.
The family was reportedly on the way to drop the doctor at his place of posting when the incident took place.
His mother identified as H Meme Devi (58) was found dead at the spot while his father sustained injuries and later referred to Imphal for further treatment.
Personnel of 33 Assam Rifles, Maram outpost rushed to the accident site and assisted in shifting the victims together with local youth.
The IRCS, Senapati district also rushed to the accident spot and assisted in shifting the deceased and injured to the district hospital, Senapati as well as dropping up to Imphal.
Describing the incident as unfortunate, CMO Senapati Dr Pfokreho Pfoze has shared his grief with the bereaved family.
