AR units observe World Mental Health Day

Imphal, October 10 2021:
44 Assam Rifles of 22 Sector IGAR (East) in collaboration with staffers of Tamenglong district hospital organised a one-day health camp for road construction workers at Sangrupang village, Tamenglong district on Sunday.
According to a PIB (Defence) Imphal release, a similar medical camp was also conducted at New Mandu village, Tousem sub division.
Informing that the events were organised to facilitate discussion and create awareness about mental health in general, how to break the stigma around it and the importance of speaking out when struggling with mental health issues, the release said that six doctors including three female doctors conducted free health checkup and distributed free medicines to the beneficiaries.
A total of 150 citizens were benefitted in New Mandu and 91 patients were examined at Sangrupang construction camp.
On the occasion, Covid vaccination of the workers with on-the-spot registration facility was also carried out in Tamenglong sub division.
The unit CMO delivered a talk on mfental health and related issues to the beneficiaries of the medical camp and stressed the need for raising awareness and educating the public about mental health issues.
Meanwhile, Churachandpur Sector of IGAR (S) organised lectures on 'Importance of Mental Health' at multiple locations in Churachandpur, Bishnupur, Noney and Pherzawl districts on the occasion of World Mental Health Day.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the lectures were organised to raise awareness on various types of mental ailments including depression, anxiety, ADHD, OCD, etc, and also importance of de-stigmatising them.
The lectures covered variety of mental health issues particularly in the light of prevalent Covid-19 scenario and the remedial measures to cure them, it added.
