Imphal, October 29 2021:
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) general secretary (organisation) L Tilotama has said that recruitment process for IRB and Jemadar should be completed before the announcement of the election code of conduct for the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election, which is due to be held in early part of 2022.Addressing media persons at Congress Bhawan here on Friday, Tilotama said that the Central government approved establishment of two IRB battalions when the state government proposed four IRB battalions in 2018 under the police modernisation scheme.
Chief minister N Biren Singh had personally declared months back that recruitment result for the two IRB battalions will be announced within a short time but it is very unfortunate that the government is yet to declare the recruitment result even after the recruitment examination was held more than two and half years back.
Police modernisation process in North East states like Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and Tripura has completed with exception to Manipur.
Altogether 6750 candidates for IRB riflemen recruitment were declared successful in the written examination and they have appeared in the'viva-voce test but the result remains undeclared till date.
Apart from this, viva-voce for 415 successful candidates for Jemadar recruitment is yet to be conducted.
Establishment of IRB battalion is being done under the Central government scheme and three years' time was given for completing the recruitment process and time for the yet to be declared IRB riflemen and Jemadar recruitment will lapse on March 31, 2022, Tilotama said, adding that there is no time left for declaration of the result if it is not done before the announcement of election code of conduct.
According to Tilotama, successful candidates have submitted 16 memoranda to the chief minister requesting completion of the recruitment process and subsequent declaration of results and sought appointment 18 times.
However, there has been* no positive response from the chief minister and this indeed is very unfortunate, she said and accused the present government of creating anxiety and restlessness among the 6750 IRB riflemen candidates and 415 Jemadar candidates.
