Lilong college, AR observe National Constitution Day

As elsewhere in the country, Lilong Haoreibi College observed the National Constitution Day on Friday under the initiatives of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell and College Teachers Association.
In a release, College principal Dr Ra-heijuddin Sheikh informed that oath of Preamble was administered to the gathering at the college multipurpose hall.
Also known as the National Law Day, the day is being observed to commemorate adoption of the Constitution of India on this day in 1949, the principal said while highlighting that the Constitution of India came into effect on January 26, 1950.The principal also stressed on the significance of the day as central government declared November 26 as Constitution Day on November 19, 2015 through a gazette notification.
He also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi made the declaration on October 11, 2015 while laying the foundation stone of Dr BR Ambedkar's statue called the Equality Memorial in Mumbai.
The year 2021 is also the 131st birth anniversary of Ambedkar, who had chaired the drafting committee of the Constituent Assembly and played a pivotal role in the drafting of the constitution, said the release.
The observance was attended by president of College Teachers' Association E Bhorat Singh and head of Mathematics department Syed Zakir Hussain.
Bhorat Singh explained the contents of the preamble to the students and advised them to strictly adhere to the preamble, the release added.
Meanwhile, 44 Assam Rifles of 22 Sector AGAR (EAST) also observed the National Constitution Day by reading of the Preamble to the Constitution to reaffirm commitment to uphold and adhere to its ideology.
The unit also gave wide publicity to the portal for reading of the Constitution which is available in 23 languages, said PRO (Defence) in a release.
However, considering the prevailing atmosphere of the deadly Covid-19 pandemic, strict adherence to the safety protocols and guidelines was ensured, it said.
