No tap water in 101- year old Unapal village

Imphal, April 24 2022:
As part of its 'See the people and meet the people' campaign, Manipur Peace and Integrity (MAPI) Council visited Unapal village in Chandel district and interacted with the villagers on Saturday.
In a release, MAPI Council informed that the programme was attended by village chief Ch Pason, villager Ch Meri, MAPI Council president KC Romeo and HAOMEE Research Guild chairman S Robin as presidium members.
During the interaction programme, village chief Ch Pason pointed out that the village is more than 101 years old.
However, it is yet to avail tap water.
He urged the government to look into the matter and further stressed the need for digging a well for the village to meet the immediate needs pending a viable water supply scheme.
He also pointed out as the village is located close to the river banks, seasonal soil erosion has been creating problems to the villagers whenever the water level rises.
MAPI Council urged the government to look into the matter as well.
The Council presented gifts to the village elders.
Football, volleyball and edible items were also distributed to the villagers, the release added.
