CPI meet adopts 12-point political demands

The Manipur State Committee, Communist Party of India (CPI) has adopted 12-point political demand including protection of state's territorial boundary for submission to the government.
According to a statement of the party, the demands were passed in a meeting of CPI MSC held at Irawat Bhawan here on Thursday for submission to the government.
Thursday's meeting also resolved to organise mass campaigns to press the government for considering the demands.
The 12-point political demands include protection of the territorial boundary of Manipur; construction of border fencing without affecting state's territory; special political status for Manipur; free and fair election; preventing unwarranted price hike of commodities; proper implementation of rood security scheme; rooting out corruption by enact-ing anti-corruption laws; compensation for land affected by Loktak Project; compulsory 100 days work under MGNREGS; protection of state's territory from Indo-Naga peace talk; no delimitation based on 2021 census and to keep all the ACs in valley area unreserved; establishment of legislative council; Rs 18,000 minimum monthly wages for workers; and restoration of old pension scheme as per directive of the Supreme Court.
The statement further informed that the state conference will also unveil Comrade Pheiroijam Parijat Masaikol and Comrade Khangjrakpam Surchand Shanglen.
