Stay away from drugs: MLA tells youth

Kshetrigao MLA Sheikh Noorul Hassan has asked the youth to stay away from drugs and live their lives free from substance abuse and contribute to bringing development in the society.
He was attending the closing ceremony of the first YSSU Trophy 2023 organised by Young Star Sporting Union (YSSU), Keikhu under the theme 'health is wealth, let's stay away from drugs & alcohol' at YSSU Ground on Sunday.
The MLA, who was the chief guest of the function, further said that sports bring discipline in life but it is also true that there are many promising sportspersons, who strayed away from their path and got wasted due to their behaviour.
As such, players need to stay away from substance abuse and bad behaviour while focusing on their career in order to achieve success, he said.
The MLA also spoke on the roles and responsibilities of local clubs, Masjid committees and public in making the government's war on drugs mission successful, and called for making it a public movement.
Urging the public to help addicts in returning to their normal lives, Noorul assured of bearing all the cost for keeping addicts in rehabilitation centres.
He also appealed to those, who are involved in the illegal drug trades to give up such illegal activities and find another means of livelihood.
Islamic Sporting Association, Kyamgei won the tournament after defeating Artika Pangong in the final match.
The MLA presented the winners' trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 10,000.YSSU president Samirul Haque presided over the function while Hafiz Brighter Academy founder Alhaj Muhibullah, PHC Lilong SMO Dr Rakibuddin Ahmad, postal account officer Abdul Kuddus were present as guests of honour.
