Fund misuse slur on EE, Chandel PHED

Alleging misuse of funds by officials concerned, Maha Area Chiefs' Association, Chandel has sought clarification from the Executive Engineer of PHED, Chandel regarding the utilization of Rs.6.2 crores meant for the district.
A press release issued by the MACA Chairman Sng Lumdil has alleged that Executive Engineer of PHED N Surchandra Singh misused the public money amounting to 6.20 crores.
It also enquired the whereabouts of a sum of Rs 7 lakhs for Dry Monsoon, Rs 2.40 crores for ARP (Central), Rs 2.40 crores provided under Prime Minister special package and Rs 7 lakhs for special DA meant for the district.
The release said that Manipur Governor during his visit to Chandel on June 6 last had scolded the said Executive Engineer for not knowing the name of Chakpi river which is the source of drinking water for Chandel district.
The statement asked the EE for producing the fund before August 28, failing which the chiefs' association would be compelled to seek legal help.
The officer will not be allowed transfer from the district until he makes clarification or repay the public money, the statement added.
The Association also appealed to the concerned authority to conduct enquiry into the matter.
