Imphal, July 17 2013:
Women in Governance Manipur (WIN-M) and Imphal Tangkhul Shanao Long (ITSL) strongly condemned the unfortunate incident of Khuga Dam on June 9 where an obscene picture of a young couple was released through MMS by the IRB personnel posted at Khuga Dam, Churachandpur district of Manipur.
The joint team of WIN-M and ITSL visited the spot on July 12 and and was extremely shocked by the behaviour of the so called security personnel who instead of giving security to the people, happened to involve in such inhuman act and blackmailing the couple.
"We are also shocked to learn that till date no government official has visited the survivor of the incident to find the facts.
We regret over the demise of the young man who lost his life in the protest rally to bring justice.
We also share our condolence to the bereaved family.
We shall extend all support in the demand made by the local organisation in this regard," the WIN-M and ITSL said today.
The two organisations then demanded for the Immediate interim relief to the person - survivor.
They also demanded for taking appropriate action against the culprits in order to avoid further incident and also to ensure safety and security to the people.
"Charge sheet to be put up at the earliest and immediate release of demand made by the Churachandpur District Students Union for the deceased person," the joint team further demanded.
