Imphal, December 11 2021:
Both the elderly people and youth of Wangkhei assembly constituency need to put in collective effort to bring about change in the constituency, stated Wangkhei AC intending candidate Thangjam Arunkumar.
Addressing gathering at the 'Ningtham Ningol Rhudol' event organised by Awonba Wangkhei Kendra Ward No 23 at Lainingthou Awangba Shanglen on Saturday, Arunkumar said that Wangkhei AC is filled with developmental and infrastructural lacunae despite its location in the heart of Imphal.
Successive elected representatives of the constituency have the habit of forgetting and neglecting people after election but seeking vote when election approaches by taking up some development works for namesake only thereby violating rights of the people for a prolonged period, he said.
Wangkhei AC has population of 52,000 but only around 2900 of them are government employees and hence majority of the people in the constituency belong to financially weak families.
The constituency has many well educated and talented youth but majority of them are hapless as they could not find any job while many others are addicted to drugs, he said and stressed the need for bringing these youth into mainstream and give them suitable self-jobs.
He also promised to give special emphasis on education, road development and improving drainage system if elected in the upcoming election.
Arunkumar presented gifts to around 2000 women of Ward No.23 at the event which culminated with a grand feast.
