Affected land owners rally for fair compensation

More than 200 people under the aegis of "Affected Land Owners' Committee, Longmai Bazar Area, Noney District" took out a rally on Monday at Longmai Bazar, demanding payment of fair compensation for the affected land and buildings, which have been demarcated,for widening of NH-37 to double lane in Longmai Bazar.
The rally started from Longmai Bazar bridge point and culminated at Forest Gate.
The protestors held placards that read No release of compensation until re-assessment", "Uphold legitimate rights of affected owners", "Our land, our rights", "We want fair compensation", "No release of compensation until problems resolved".
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the raily, Lanthuiguang Kamei, spokesperson of the Affected Land Owners' Committee, asserted that unless the authority concerned re-assess and re-estimate the affected land and buildings, payment should not be made without the consent of the affected owners.
It is learnt that there are irregularities in the preparation, of documents and estimated amount by the authority concerned as'compared to the actual affected land and structures, hesaid, adding, "So, we demand rectification of the inappropriate bills first and resolution of the issue before the aggrieved people resort to intense agitation" .
