Imphal, December 02 2021:
RK Suraj, son of former chief minister late RK Dorendra, of Yaiskul assembly constituency has joined Apna Dal (Sonelal).
He was accorded a warm welcome by the party's state president Konthoujam Manoranjan and general secretary (administration) MI Khan and other party leaders in a function held at its Old Lambulane office, here on Thursday.
At the event, Manoranjan said that Apna Dal (S) forayed into the state's electoral politics recently and it is an untainted political party so far.
The party's national president Anupriya Patel herself is a leader who works for the welfare of poor people.
The party is planning to field at least 30 candidates in the 2022 state assembly election and all the candidates will be subjected to scrutiny including their educational qualification and political experience.
The minimum qualification for ex-MLA or ex-ministers will be matriculation while qualification for freshers will be graduate since experiences and educational qualification are essential for the lawmakers.
The party's national leader also agrees with the decision and they even assured of bringing up the matter in the parliament so as to frame a law to set a minimum educational qualification for politicians.
As for RK Suraj, he is not only a well-established person in the field of politics but he holds master's degree in political science, he said.
Manoranjan further said that he himself is an agriculture engineer and has been associated with the farmers in the ground level for long.
The state needs agro-based industries in order to improve its economy and the party will work in this line, he added.
Multiple intending candidates are in the race for BJP ticket in almost every constituency and those who are denied party ticket will definitely turn their anger on the party once BJP announces its candidates, he predicted.
MI Khan said that the party is quite new in the state but many are joining the party due to its ideologies and vision of the party's leaders.
Several key executives from JDU and INC are joining the party and the party will have a major seat share in the 2022 state assembly election, he added.
