National conference of IASP underway at RIMS

Imphal, November 26 2021:
The 28th national conference of Indian Association for Social Psychiatry (IASP), which is being organised under the theme 'Conflicts, Culture and Social Wellness' by RIMS department of psychiatry under the aegis of IASP, has begun from Friday at RIMS Jubilee Hall, Imphal.
DM University vice-chancellor professor N Rajmuhon, IASP president professor Pratap Saran, RIMS director Dr A Santa, IASP vice-president Dr RK Solanki, IASP president elect Dr UC Garg, IASP editor professor Nitin Gupta and delegates from different parts of the country are attending the national conference, which will continue for three days.
Speaking at the event, professor N Rajmuhon emphasised on how the Covid-19 pandemic has created numerous social issues and pressures in the last two years and how the pandemic has put many families in untold miseries.
He welcomed lASP for organising the national conference at such a time when the society needs it the most and expressed hope that the conference, which is being attended by renowned psychiatrists from all over the country will bring positive outputs that would be helpful to policy makers.
Organising committee chairman Dr RK Lenin thanked the IASP for choosing Manipur for its national conference during this Covid-19 pandemic.
The main objective of organising the conference is to take up certain initiatives to keep mental health of the public strong amid the pandemic, he noted.
A souvenir was released and several awards were distributed on the first day of the conference" .
