Manifesto to be abided by Outer candidates released

All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) and All Manipur Tribal Union (AMTU) today released manifesto the candidates of the ensuing Lok Sabha election should abide it.
The event jointly organised by the two tribal organisations was held at Hotel Classic here today.
Speaking at the occasion, Muan Tombing, president of ATSUM stated that even after several years, none of the tribal MPs have spoken about tribal rights in the Parliament till today.
Instead of speaking for the rights and necessities of the tribal people, the elected tribal MPs of Manipur just sit in the Parliament doing nothing.
Muan Tombing released the manifesto for Manipur Outer Parliamentary constituency for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The manifesto consisted of 10 charter of demands which include honoraria, allowances or salary to the members of the Village Authorities in the Hill Areas to be provided as done in the valley area by the virtue of Rule 16 of the Manipur Gram Panchayat and Zilla Parishad (General) Rules, 1995, appointment of secretary, peon and chowkidar with provisions for paying them salary for the services they rendered to ensure the proper functioning of Village Authorities, submission of the annual budget by the village to the state government for discussion and approval as done under Rule 30 of the Manipur Gram Panchayat and Zilla Parishad (General) rules, 1995, reservation of seats for women in the Autonomous District Councils' must be followed through and through and Parliamentarians must initiate the steps towards achieving the same.
The other demands include full implementation of Article 371 C and its subsequent order dated the June 20, 1972 issued by the then President of India V..VGiri in letter and in spirit for a multi-prolonged benefit, full implementation of the provisions of the Right of Childern to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 and the Right to Education under Article 21 of the Indian Constitution in the hill areas of Manipur with the appointment of teachers for language, work education, health and physical education, arts education and social sciences.
The manifesto also includes accessibility of the right to health to each and every village within the state which is a Fundamental Right as held by the Apex Court, availability of clean and pollution free water which is a part and parcel of the Right to life guaranteed under Article 21 of the Indian Constitution as ruled by the Supreme Court, right to basic civic amenities such as electricity and roads should reach every parts of the state no matter how remote a village is situated and a special package for the voters residing in Thoubal areas and to strive to secure an additional seat in the Parliament besides the existing two seats that should include Thoubal areas so as to give them the opportunity and the right to choose their own Members of Parliament (MP) which should be a priority.
The interaction programme was attended by ex MP Kim Gangte, Trinamool Congress candidate; ex MP Mani Charenamei, Independent candidate; Lalminlien, Janata Dal United (JDU) candidate and Khamchinpau Zou, Aam Aadmi Party candidate representing the tribal leaders.
Senior tribal politicians, social activists, intellectuals, scholars and students also took part in the programme.
