Imphal, July 22 2021:
Leadership Council of Thang-Ta (LCTT) has called for formation of an expert committee to deliberate and amend the Article 371C of the Constitution of India.
In a release, LCTT stated that since getting independence, other nations have been purging the divide and rule policy of the British and strengthening territorial integrity, but in Manipur the policy has been in force for 71 years now.
Hence, the state government should form an expert committee to re-examine provisions of the Article 371C for its amendment or replacement with a new law which does not discriminate people based on community, tribe, hill-valley, religion, etc., but treats all equally, after reviewing the 71 years history of the state, it said.
LCTT further appealed to all CSOs to not give communal statements in media.
Let's unite and live in harmony, it exhorted.
