World Diabetes Day observed

As in other parts of the world, the World Diabetes Day 2017 was observed jointly by District Health Society, Imphal East and District Administration, Imphal East under the theme "Women and Diabetes: Our Right to a Healthy Future" at Imphal East DC office complex today.
Speaking as chief guest at the observance function held under National Program for Prevention & Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases and Stroke (NPCDCS), ADM Imphal East Luckyson Kasung expressed concern over the rising number of Diabetes patients in the country per year.
He said that with the advancement of technology in the world, people tend to depend on machines even for doing normal works.
He pointed out that lack of physical movement is one of the major causes of diabetes mainly in urban areas.
CMO/District Mission Director, District Health Society, Dr Kh Indra Singh said that the first observance of World Diabetes Day was held in November, 1991 .
SDO Keirao Block, L Radhakanta and SDO Porompat, Selina Ningthoujam also attended the function.
The World Diabetes Day was also observed at Medical Directorate.
