Overall vehicle sales drop in state

Imphal, March 13 2023:
After recording a slight drop in January, 2023, the state witnessed further decline in the overall sales of vehicles in February 2022 with three wheeler vehicles recording highest increase in sales on Year on Year (YoY) basis as compared to sales figure of corresponding month of last year even though the all India sales figure rose by 15.95 per cent.
According to a data released by Federation of Automobile Dealers' Associations (FADA), the overall sales figure of all types of vehicles dropped by 29.87 per cent (YoY) with February 2023 recording sales of 4107 vehicles as compared to 5856 vehicles in February 2022.In two-wheeler category, the state recorded sales of 2990 vehicles in February 2023 against 4774 vehicles sold in February 2022, thereby showing a YoY decline of 37.37 per cent.
Total sales of 163 three wheelers were recorded in February 2023 against 49 sold in February 2022, which shows a YoY increase of 232.65 per cent.
February 2023 recorded sales of 181 commercial vehicles against 195 units sold in February 2022, which shows a YoY decline of 7.18 per cent.
In passenger vehicle category, which include cars, February 2023 reported sales of 771 units against 836 units sold in February 2022, thereby showing a YoY decline of 7.78 per cent.
On the other hand, two tractors were sold in February 2023, the same as in February 2022.The All India YoY changes from February 2022 to February 2023 are 14.75 per cent in two wheelers, 81.47 per cent in three wheelers, 17.27 per cent in commercial vehicles, 10.99 percent in passenger vehicles, and 13.96 per cent in tractors.
The overall rise is 15.95 per cent.
Commenting on how December 2022 performed, especially in the state, FADA Manipur State chairperson Andy Mangsatabam said: "At the national level, the automobile industry is showing a positive growth whereas it is showing a negative growth in Manipur.
It may be due to the inability to register new vehicles in the VAHAN portal for many OEMs at the local level in Manipur" .
