Imphal, September 06 2022:
Poiroupat Loukol Farmers Development Cooperative Society Limited has cautioned of launching intense agitations if the Agriculture Department fails to distribute the much-need urea to the farmers of the Society by September 8.Addressing a press meet at Yairipok Thambalnu Market on Tuesday, Society secretary Kh Tomchou informed that around 140 farmers of the Society were provided fertiliser on July 18 for the first phase.
To avail the urea for the second phase, Aadhaar and patta of the farmlands were submitted to the Agricultural Field Officer (AFO) on July 19, who then submitted the same to the director of Agriculture Department on July 29 after which the director released the urea quota to the AFO.
Since July 29, the farmers of the Society have been urging for distribution of the fertilisers.
Even if one visited the office daily, the staff always try to ignore or misdirect the matter.
The AFO and the DAO had inspected the farmlands under the Society, when it was inundated.
At present, the crops have already been planted and are in need of fertilisers.
As such, it is baffling why the fertiliser is not being provided to the farmers.
Thus, he demanded distribution of the fertilisers to the farmers by September 8, failing which intense agitations would be launched against the Agriculture Department.
