CHC Chakpikarong in pathetic condition: ALT

With the objective of taking some concrete actions in the context of 'Education, Health & Environment, Anal Lenruwl Taangpi (ALT) or Anal Students' Union conducted a tour of the villagers under Chakpikarong sub-division of Chandel district on August 18 .
Issuing a press statement in this regard, students' body today informed that during the tour interactions were held with village elders, villagers and other relevant authorities apart from visiting important government establishments such as Chakpikarong Govt.High School and Chakpikarong Community Health Centre, which is supposed to cater to the health care needs of more than 200 villages.
The team found the CHC in an extremely pathetic condition with lack of required staffs, sub standard equipments and total absence of other basic infrastructures for health care.
The statement enumerated that demands of the people which included posting of 5 nurses, 2 drivers, 2 ward attendants, installation of laboratory facility, replacement of second hand X ray machine brought from other CHCs, appointment of a lab technician, construction of concrete fencing of the centre, installation of Solar Power supply and providing an additional ambulance.
It is also stated that the Govt high school that has 555 students functioned without headmaster since February 28 this year after the the headmaster has taken leave.
The teaching staffs at present are managed by 8 teachers for higher classes.
In spite of shortage of staffs, two staffs have been utilized at ZEO office and Liwachangning Govt high School, the statement pointed out, while requesting the authority concerned to send back the teachers to their respective previous place of posting.
The infrastructure component construction works under RMSA and MOBC, though was found in progress, the students' body, nonetheless, has appealed to the concerned authority to complete the works within stipulated period given by the agencies.
Acknowledging the complaints of the cooks employed for Mid day meal scheme in primary schools, the students' body has also drawn the attention of the Education Department for payment of honorarium regularly.
