Imphal, January 01 2018:
Claiming that National Peoples' Party (NPP) is becoming stronger day by day, NPP, Manipur president Thangminlien Kipgen has said that the party will form a NPP led coalition Government in Meghalaya apart from scoring a big win in Nagaland in the coming Assembly polls of the two States slated for February 27 .
Speaking to media persons at the inauguration ceremony of the new NPP Manipur's office as well as the celebration of Manipur Statehood Day, at Sangaiprou Mamang Leikai, Tiddim (Airport) road, near ISKCON Temple, he said that he went to Tura and Nagaland recently in connection with party affairs.
Thangminlien informed that a unit of NPP has also been opened in Nagaland and strong campaign is on in both States.
He continued that three or four teams will go to Nagaland and Meghalaya in connection with the election affairs of the coming Assembly elections in the said States.
Maintaining that meagre representation of MPs in Parliament from the States of the North East, brings disunity among the MPs regarding several issues faced by the region, Thangminlien said that NPP is a political party built with the vision of creating a platform where the issues of the whole North East region are taken seriously.
The party is not based on a particular religion, caste or creed and everyone can join the party, he added.
Reminding that the office of NPP, Manipur was shifted to Sangaiprou Mamang Leikai, Tiddim (Airport) Road from its previous location at Chingmeirong, the party president said that the new office will strengthen the party as there will be separate offices for Women and Youth wings.
He also sought the cooperation of the public, particularly from Patsoi A/C and narrated that NPP, Manipur, was conceptualised initially at Patsoi A/C by Tera Laimu.
When asked about the authenticity of a local newspaper report on likeliness of a Ministry reshuffle in the Government in the near future as well as dropping of two NPP Ministers from their posts, the NPP president said that it was just a newspaper report and no such information has been received by him till date.
Deputy CM Y Joykumar inaugurated the new party office building in the presence of other NPP Ministers and office bearers.
The inaugural function was also attended by Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar Singh, WRD Minister Letpao Haokip, Tribal Affairs and Hills Minister N Kayiisi and NPP's vice president Phungzathang Tonsing.
