Poshan Pakhwada events held in Thoubal, Bishnupur

As in different parts of the country, the 5th Poshan Pakwada was held in Thoubal district on Monday.
Deputy commissioner A Subhash Singh flagged off a rally at the DC office complex, marking the be ginning of Poshan Pakhwada celebration.
Speaking to the media, the DC informed that Poshan Pakhwada is organised to give awareness to the people about nutrition and to promote healthy eating habits.
He appealed to the people, mostly women, to provide their children with healthy and nutritive food, while advising parents to discourage their children from eating junk food as it has no nutritional value.
The theme of this year's Poshan Pakhwada celebration is "Nutrition for all: Together towards a Healthy India".
With the declaration of 2023 as International Year of Millet, the focus of Poshan Pakhwada will be on
popularising 'Shree Anna'-the mother of all grains as valuable assets to address malnutrition.
Various activities will be held during this fortnight celebration till April 3.Promotion and popularisation of millet for nutritional wellbeing through organisation of drives to link millet- based foods with supplementary nutrition, home visits and diet consultation camps are some of the activities.
Celebration of Swasth Balak Spardha and popularisation of Saksham Anganwadi will also be held.
Around 150 Anganwadi workers and helpers, and ASHA workers and volunteers of NGOs participated in the rally which was also attended by Thoubal ADM B Lokeshor Sharma, CMO Dr Y Nokul Singh, ZEO A Anilkumar Singh, AC to DC Kh Lenin Singh, DPO (ICDS Thoubal) Th Suranjoy Singh and other district level officers.
BISHNUPUR: The district administration of Bishnupur in association with ICDS Cell, Bishnupur on Monday launched Poshan Pakhwada at Panchayat Resource Centre, Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur .
Deputy commissioner Lourembam Bikram attended the launch function as chief guest while district nodal officer RBSK/ RKSK Dr Ksh Umananda Singh and CDPO Moirang N Ruparani were present as guest of honour and functional president respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Bikram highlighted the need for convergence of all line departments to achieve the objectives of the Poshan Pakhwada campaign.
The DC also encouraged ICDS officials and workers to work with full commitment so that the campaign reaches each and every household in the district.
The Poshan Pakhwada will be observed across the district till April 3.Several activities are being planned to raise awareness on the importance of nutrition and promote healthy eating habits all through the fortnight.
ADC H Bobby Sharma, ICDS officials and staff, Anganwadi workers and helpers also took part in the function.
