AR celebrates 'Mahotsav', distributes edibles

Imphal, July 15 2021:
Somsai Battalion of IGAR (South) celebrated Bharat ka Amrut Mahotsav at British English School Poi in Ukhrul district on Thursday.
In a release, PRO IGAR(S) informed that the event was organised with the aim to inculcate national solidarity amongst children.
As part of the event, an essay writing competition was organised at Bright English School Poi village with 100 children participating.
The event also witnessed participation from youth organisations, women's associations and church communities of Poi village along with troops of Assam Rifles with full enthusiasm and national fervour, it added.
On the other-hand, Noney Battalion of 22 Sector Assam Rifles/Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) distributed essential items to Pattern Life School Orphanage Tupul village of Noney district on Thursday.
The distribution drive conducted by Company Operating Base Tupul was aimed at strengthening the humanitarian bond and providing essential commodities to the needy children of the orphanage amidst the tough times of COVID-19 pandemic with the hope that these small initiatives will bring positivity in the minds of villagers and happiness in the hearts of the children, said an AR release.
The troops also distributed 10 saplings to the orphanage considering the importance of environment and ways to conserve it.
Significance of living in harmony with nature was also discussed with the children and they were encouraged to indulge in extra-curricular activities and sports, it added.
