RPI-A to field 20 candidates: Vinod Nikalje

Republican Party of India (Athawale) election observer Vinod Nikalje has stated that the party is planning to held 20 candidates in the both the hills and the valley in the upcoming 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly.
Speaking as the chief guest at the observance of the 65th Death Anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar at MEIPA, Palace Compound here Monday, Vinod Nikalje informed that RPI (A) is a party with the Constitution as its manifesto.
It is a political party based on the vision of Dr BR Ambedkar, the father of the Indian Constitution, working to unite the people regardless of caste, creed, and religion, and provide equal rights, in addition to uplifting the status of women in society.
Responding to questions from reports, Vinod stated that RPI (A) is a party working with BJP, while informing that leaders of both parties are in talks to continue the partnership in the upcoming polls.
If the partnership were to continue, RPI would be fielding 10 candidates in the hills and the valley, otherwise it would be fielding a total of 20 candidates.
He also said that the party has many supporters in both the hill and the valley and there are many capable candidates for the hill districts as well.
He then informed that his visit to Imphal is to assess the status of the party in the different constituencies, in addition to holding discussion with the intending candidates.
In his speech, Keisham-thong AC RPI (A) candidate Maheshwar Thounaojam remarked that the country is in chaos due to lack of adherence and respect of the Constitution.
He then said that the party will never work out of bounds of the Constitution and assured to safeguard the rights of the people as enshrined in the Constitution.
As part of the observance, floral tributes were offered to the portrait of Dr BR Ambedkar, which was followed with the gathering shouting slogans in his praise.
