USYC, SGVYO embark on Imphal rarer dean-up mission

As a part of the Clean Imphal River Campaign and endorsement of the state government's initiative, United Saparmeina Youth Club (USYC) and Saitu-Gamphazol Village Youth Organisation (SGVYO) on Tuesday launched a cleanliness drive of Imphal River from Saparmeina section.
The "Clean Imphal River Campaign", an initiative of state government was recently launched at Kangpokpi following the successful clean-up and rejuvenation campaign of the Nambul river while the month-long Cleaning of Imphal River Campaign' was kicked off on Tuesday.
Large number of youth from Saparmeina and Saitu areas under the aegis of USYC and SGVYO led by BJP Manipur spokesperson Micheal Lamjathang Haokip cleaned the Imphal River from Koubru Laikha to Pangmol village in Kangpokpi district.
During Phase-I of the drive, which will be carried out from Kangpokpi till Sekmai, youth volunteers from Saparmeina and Saitu areas collected domestic and solid waste materials from the river bank and bed with the usage of excavator.
The campaign of USYC and SGVYO is in collaboration with the Directorate of Environment and Climate Change.
Chief minister N Biren lauded the youths of Saparmeina and Saitu areas for supporting and endorsing the initiative of government in cleaning the river in his facebook post.
The CM said: "I salute all of you.
Support coming in from volunteers of United Saparmeina Youth Club (USYC) and Saitu-Gamp-hazol Area Villages Youth Organization (SAGVYO) for the Clean Imphal River Campaign, 2O22_ recently initiated by the state government" .
