'Pendraba Khunaigi Mem' bags best production award

The result of the Nupi Shumang Leela competition organised by art and culture department has been declared Thursday with Western Cultural Association's play 'Pendraba Khunaigi Meiri' adjudged winner of the best production award.
Meitei Leimarol Art Performing Centre's 'Gaidinliu' won second best prize and Women Art and Culture Association's 'Nupi Lal' was declared winner of the third best production prize.
In the individual category, Ksh Sushma Devi bagged the best actor (male) award, Ch Lilabati best actor (female), Satyamala best supporting actor (male), K Sangita best supporting actor (female), Thambal best comedian, L Kanchan best child artiste, Kabita best singer, SK Mangang best script and Western Cultural Association's Iboyaima Khuman best director.
Earlier in the day, Kangjabi Meitei Chanu Artiste cum Drama Association presented the play, "Amamba Amadi Anganba Manipur", on the last day of the 1st Nupi Shumang Leela organised in connection with Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound.
The play is based on aftermath of the Anglo-Manipuri War, 1891, particularly with regard to the two Nupi Lal of 1904 and 1939.Salam Shamungou Meitei the playwright while SK Mangang directed it assisted by S Muktabali.
The male characters were portrayed by S Rojita (Renick), Kh Velenkani (Gen Colet), N Purnima (Lonus), Y Gangguli (Siphai), Th Manjita (Boro Saheb), S Anjali (Soto Saheb), Ng Premota (Surya), Ksh Suchitra (Nongpok), S Henena (Pishak), Helena (Gourahari) and Sophia (king Bodhchandra).
The female characters were played by S Eraileima (Tombi), N Princy (Eshwari), T Jennybala (Sabi), Bedarani (Tongou), Ph Daphny (Khongnang), Velenkani (Amubi) and T Penny (Thambal).
The music is by Subhash, Tarun, Premjit, Sanatomba, Ashok and songs were sung by Narmada.
